Project 11: Technological Advances

As the technology advances, we were seeing bigger things such as bigger laptop screens or bigger handphone screens. 10 years ago, the standard resolution of a laptop lcd monitor is valued at 800x600, now it is being valued as high as 1920x1200. So i am going to design a poster about technological advances about higher resolution and bigger screens. To get started, i took a image of a laptop from the internet from Stock.xchng and cropped it onto the photoshop.

Next i measured the angles and placed lines on the 4 sides of the lcd screen of the laptop. But why am i going to do this? It is because i am going to crop and resize the lcd screen into bigger sizes and the job of the lines is the make sure that each lcd screens is going to be placed correctly on their positions.

After make sure the lcd screens were being position correctly at their positions, it's time to add in the words "Technological Advances" , "Pixel Perfection" to the design and it will be done.

And this is how the final design looks like.

Project 10: Stamp design

This is a project on stamps design featuring iconic places of singapore, i am going to design 5 different designs of stamps ranging from 10 cents to 50 cents using images that i have took with my dslr. The iconic places that i will be using are esplanade, merlion park, clarke quay, marina bay sands and singapore flyer.

So to get started, i dragged a image that i have took into the photoshop.

There inside the photoshop, i do some edits onto the image, first i invert the image then desaturated it, so that it will give me a "pencil drawing feel" towards it.

Then i added in words like "Singapore" and "10 cents" onto the design.

It's time to make a outer layout for the design to make it look like a stamp so i created a vector mask inside the photoshop to create a outer stamp shape.

After creating the outer stamp design, i dragged my existing stamp design into the inner black layer of the outer stamp design and fitted it accordingly to create my final stamp design.

Lastly, i used the same methods for the remaining 4 stamp designs and this is how all of them looked like in the end.

Project 8: World Cup 2010 Poster

Hi all, i believe by this time, everyone will be feeling the heat from the world cup's fever. Thus, i decided to make my own version of world cup poster based on the original logo of world cup 2010 and the official world cup mascot.

*Credits to FIFA and World Cup 2010 for the pictures.

First of all, i edited some parts off the original world cup 2010's mascot. Eg.I removed the ball and the words "south africa 2010".

Then, i add in the words "Are you ready for it".

Lastly, i included the official FIFA logo and the official World Cup football in the design.

This is how the final design looks like.

Project 7: Life Science Day Poster Design

A friend called me today to seek my help on helping him to design a poster about "life science day" for his school's cca. The target audience of this "life science day" are young children and primary school children so this lead me thinking, the poster that i am designing must be able to attract young children, so using bright colors and cartoon characters inside the poster is a must.

Inside the photoshop, i uses the gradient tool to color the background "green", why i chose green? Because the color green usually pops up instantly in our mind when we think of the word "science"

Next, i added words to the poster such as the title, the timing and the place for the event to be held at.

Next, i cropped in a cartoon doctor that i had found on the internet onto the poster, add some final touches towards it and the final product is done.

Lastly, this is how the final piece of poster looks like.

Project 6: Shoe Ad

This is an sneaker advertisement that i have done for my friend's project. To get started, i have downloaded a piece of high resolution shoe image from this website "Stock.XCHNG", this website that enables you to download free and not copyrighted stock images. This is the image that i have downloaded..

I am going to make the shoe looks like a falling rocket that is traveling at a high speed downwards towards the earth, with burning fire and sparks exploding in my design. So to get started, i open up my adobe photoshop and created a Grey background.

Next, i created the "clouds" by using brushes to showcase the earth atmosphere in my design.

Next, i added another layer of black background over the existing background to showcase "dark atmosphere" and "nightfall".

Now, it's time for me to crop in the picture of the red sneaker into my design.

After cropping the picture of the red sneaker onto my design, i am going to add in some fire effects and sparks to increase the effectiveness of the overall feel.

Lastly, after adding some final touches to the overall advertisement, the advertisement will now be a final product.

This how how the final advertisement looks like! =)

Project 5: Club's Poster Design

"I must complete a poster design in a span of 2 hrs using the resources given", that's the challenge being thrown to me. The resources given to me was the picture of a club, the words and a logo. So to get started, i need to decide on the primary colors that i will be using in the poster. In the end, i chose a combination of brown and white for the poster as i felt that it will bring classiness of the club.

I open up photoshop and uses the gradient tool to color the background of the poster design..

Next, i included the words and the logo to the poster. To further enchance the legibility of the words, i uses effects such as "Drop Shadow", "Stroke" and "Bevel and Embross".

Now, it's time to put in the picture of the club to the poster and add some final touches to the overall poster so that it will look like a finish piece of work.

Thus, this is how the final work looks like, total amount of time spent = 1 hr 32mins.
